Ascend Indiana Summer Internships

Internship Opportunities 

Business Development Intern 

The Business Development Intern will support the management and ongoing execution of systems and processes to better understand the workforce landscape and employer needs across the region. This team member will play a key role in providing ongoing customer service to existing partners while identifying prospective employers for targeted outreach. The Business Development Intern will assist in building and maintaining strong employer relationships to achieve the organization’s objectives. Finally, the Business Development Intern will support the Vice President of External Relations on high priority projects and research as assigned. 

Maintain and strengthen relationships with current and potential employer partners throughout Indiana. 

  • Support the prospecting, sales, and onboarding processes for current and potential employer partners to the Ascend Network. 
  • Create and maintain plans for the research, development, and implementation phases of employer partner onboarding. 
  • Conduct research on current and potential employer partners, identify early-in-career roles within the organization, and draft Network profiles showcasing the employer’s culture and the available employment opportunities. 
  • Support the Employer Engagement team by participating in ongoing partnership and programmatic conversations with current and potential employer partners. 
  • Steward and track relationships with current and potential employer partners through various communication channels including in-person meetings, e-mails, and phone calls. 
  • Assist with the management of Ascend’s CRM system. 

Talent Pipeline Development Intern

The Talent Pipeline Development Intern will support various talent pipeline and strategic planning projects focused on creating career opportunities in partnership with Central Indiana employers and education providers. Projects will include creating comprehensive strategic plans, conducting landscape analyses on various issues, and developing evaluation procedures to track program progress and impact. The Talent Pipeline Development Intern will also help further Ascend’s vision through the development and implementation of tools and models that can be replicated as the organization grows. Finally, this individual will support the Manager of Consulting on high priority projects and research as assigned. 

Create, execute, and implement plans for various talent pipeline and strategic planning projects utilizing partnerships with key employer and education providers. 

  • Discover and review national, state, and local research for current projects focused on healthcare and workforce development related issues and best practices on how other states are addressing similar issues / projects.
  • Research exemplary post-secondary programs supporting the development of graduates within the human services field that can transition into the behavioral health or other healthcare fields. 
  • Develop content to build out a strategic plan for building talent pipelines and create tools and templates to replicate the process with other key stakeholders and partners over time. This includes drafting the executive summary, landscape narrative, and power point deck for use by partners. 
  • Coordinate discussions about Ascend Indiana programs with employer and university partners. This includes developing and engagement strategy prior to meeting and managing next steps.

Develop evaluation procedures and assessments for tracking program progress alongside corporate and university partners. 

  • Develop and implement assessments for programs and create strategies for tracking and managing data for each talent pipeline. 
  • Work with Ascend Indiana staff and key stakeholders to gather data for each talent pipeline including student enrollment, completion, and those finding jobs. 
  • Collect, compile, and enter information about each program into a database and communicate progress to Ascend Indiana staff and stakeholders regularly. 
  • Make improvements and suggestions on how to better manage and store program data. 

Requirements 

  • 3.5 minimum GPA from an undergraduate institution 
  • Excellent analytical, writing, research and project management skills 
  • A detail-oriented self-starter who can be given a need or objective, break it down into executable pieces, identify questions that need to be asked, gather priorities and requirements, set and manage to milestones and then execute effectively. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite preferred

  • Required internship hours: 40 hours/week 
  • Timeframe: May - August 2018 
  • Stipend: $12/hour
