Manager of Employer Engagement

Ascend Indiana is a fast-growing nonprofit on a mission to address Indiana’s workforce misalignment. Ascend’s vision is for every Indiana employer to have access to the skilled workforce necessary to thrive, and for every Indiana citizen to have the opportunity to pursue a meaningful career path. An initiative of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), Ascend Indiana collaborates with corporate, education, philanthropic, and community partners, and is well-positioned to play a leadership role in addressing Indiana’s workforce challenges.

The Manager of Employer Engagement will build and maintain strong employer relationships to achieve partners’ objectives and address their talent needs. The primary responsibilities include building, maintaining, and growing relationships with employer partners, communicating employers’ talent needs with the Ascend team to guide action, deeply understanding the Ascend Network platform to guide enhancements, and working closely with the Ascend team to ensure partners’ success. Finally, the Manager of Employer Engagement will support the Vice President on high priority projects and research as assigned.

A relationship builder that understands employer’s unique talent needs and identifies appropriate solutions.

  • You participate in business development activities by identifying potential partners, developing an outreach strategy, and conducting initial discussions to determine employer’s talent needs.
  • You onboard partner employers to the Network by understanding current hiring processes and talent demands and developing their presence within the platform.
  • You provide ongoing excellent and timely service to employers leading to retention and renewal.
  • You create and share partnership metrics with employer partners to guide ongoing efforts.
  • You generate high-quality PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and other written deliverables to support the sales, onboarding, reporting, and relationship-building processes.

An excellent communicator who effectively manages partner relationships and translates information to internal stakeholders. 

  • You serve as the primary account manager for a portfolio of employer partners, leading them from onboarding to successfully hiring and retaining early-in-career talent.
  • You understand each employer’s unique talent demand and clearly and effectively communicate those needs internally to Ascend’s Network team to drive effective candidate outreach.
  • You collect, compile, and enter information about employer partners into the Network platform.
  • You share candidate recommendations with employer partners and seek feedback to ensure we identify appropriate talent for each role.
  • You develop systems and processes for securing and organizing employer feedback.
  • You communicate with Ascend’s Services team in the event that one of your employers is also participating in a Services project.

  • You develop a deep understanding of the Ascend Network platform and its functionality.
  • You support the Product Team in user testing with employer partners and help communicate product enhancements.
  • You provide feedback to the Product Team about super admin and employers’ experience on the platform to guide prioritization.
  • You support the Product Team on high-priority projects as appropriate.

  • You break down goals and develop weekly, quarterly, and yearly plans to achieve organizational objectives.
  • You manage and report against goals, priorities, and objectives to the Vice President. 

Minimum Requirements

  • 3.5 minimum GPA from either an undergraduate or graduate institution
  • 2-5 years of experience in education, business, nonprofit, or government 
  • Experience in a corporate environment, managing client relationships, or workforce development preferred
  • Demonstrated ethical handling of confidential information
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite required
