Manager of Employer Engagement

An initiative of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), Ascend collaborates with corporate, education, philanthropic, and community partners, and is well-positioned to play a leadership role in addressing Central Indiana’s workforce challenges. 

The Manager of Employer Engagement will support the management and ongoing execution of systems and processes to better understand the workforce landscape and employer needs within the region. The Manager of Employer Engagement will assist efforts to build and maintain strong employer relationships to achieve partners’ objectives and address their talent needs. This team member will build, implement, and refine systems to identify and capture individual employer information and aggregate workforce data to be shared with key internal and external stakeholders. Finally, the Manager of Employer Engagement will support the Vice President of External Relations on high priority projects and research as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

Support all aspects of maintaining and growing employer relationships

  • Build systems and processes for onboarding partner employers, understanding current hiring processes, and gathering information on current job openings 
  • Support the Vice President in continuing account management activity
  • Support ongoing partnership and programmatic conversations with employers
  • Collaborate internally to develop solutions to address specific talent needs
  • Research potential employer partners with areas of need aligned to Ascend’s core offerings
  • Provide excellent and timely service to employers, leading to retention and renewal
  • Generate high-quality PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and other written deliverables to support the sales, onboarding, reporting, and relationship-building processes

Create assessments for tracking progress and feedback

  • Assist with the development and implementation of assessments for employer partners and create strategies for tracking and managing data 
  • Work with Ascend staff and employer partners to gather data including open jobs, knowledge and skill requirements, and existing talent sourcing practices
  • Develop systems and process for securing and organizing employer feedback
  • Collect, compile, and enter information about employer partners into a database and regularly communicate progress to Ascend staff and stakeholders 

Conduct research on the national, state, and local workforce landscape

  • Assist with the development of an annual research plan 
  • Research the national, state, and local labor market and workforce development landscape, including supply and demand for key sectors
  • Gather and maintain data from job postings and talent profiles in Ascend’s database and other web-based platforms to understand the labor market
  • Seek out and analyze research reports highlighting industry trends
  • Track and summarize issues affecting the national, state and local workforce development landscape, including issues around higher education and career and technical/vocational/adult education
  • Prepare research briefs to share internally and externally

Build successful project management processes

  • Develop weekly, quarterly, and yearly plans to achieve organizational objectives
  • Manage and report against goals, priorities, and objectives to the Vice President
  • Provide additional support to the Vice President and CEO as needed

Minimum Requirements

  • 3.3 minimum GPA from either an undergraduate or graduate institution
  • At least 2 years of experience in education, business, nonprofit, or government
  • Experience in a corporate environment or workforce development preferred
  • Excellent analytical, project management, and building systems skills
  • Demonstrated ethical handling of confidential information 
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite required  
  • A detail-oriented self-starter who can be given a need or objective, break it down into executable pieces, identify questions that need to be asked, gather priorities and requirements, set and manage to milestones and then execute effectively.
