An initiative of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), Ascend collaborates with corporate, education, philanthropic, and community partners, and is well-positioned to play a leadership role in addressing Central Indiana’s workforce challenges.

Ascend is seeking motivated, self-starters to support the management and execution of Ascend’s employer engagement and talent placement efforts through the AmeriCorps VISTA program. The implementation of these systems will help connect post-secondary students to meaningful careers with employers throughout Indiana. VISTA members will receive a living allowance, relocation allowance (if applicable), and a choice between an education award or end-of-service stipend. Technology, parking, and training will be provided by Ascend. Application deadline is September 12, 2017.

Job Responsibilities

Talent Placement Coordinator

The Ascend Career Placement Coordinator will work with the Talent Identification team and higher education institutions to define campus recruitment strategies and place post-secondary graduates into meaningful internships and self-sustaining careers through the Ascend Network. 

VISTA responsibilities will include:

  • Creating a database of post-secondary student data from universities throughout the state
  • Importing post-secondary student data into a database and the Ascend Network
  • Meeting 1-on-1 with post-secondary students to learn about their background and career aspirations
  • Creating internal and external messaging and recruitment materials for key stakeholders and post-secondary students

Business Development Coordinator

The Ascend Business Development Coordinator will work with the External Relations team to assist with the management and execution of Ascend’s employer engagement efforts so that post-secondary students have access to meaningful careers with Central Indiana employers. The Business Development Coordinator will also conduct research that synthesizes national, state, and local employment and hiring data in order to evaluate the current labor market trends.

VISTA responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting all aspects of maintaining and growing relationships with Indiana employers
  • Onboarding partner employers to the Ascend Network
  • Reviewing job descriptions for a greater understanding of hiring trends and processes
  • Conducting research on national, state, and local employment and hiring data
  • Developing internal and external messaging and informational materials
  • Creating assessments for tracking progress and employer feedback

Talent Pipeline Development Coordinator

The Ascend Talent Pipeline Development Coordinator will work with the Ascend Service's team to support the research and development of custom talent pipelines within Central Indiana. The Talent Pipeline Development Coordinator will work with employer and university partners to create new career opportunities for post-secondary graduates within the healthcare, human services, and life sciences fields.

VISTA responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting research on national, state, and local healthcare, human services, and life science related issues
  • Developing strategic plans and landscape analyses to clearly identify the challenges and characteristics of those fields
  • Supporting employer and education partners through the development of custom talent programs
  • Creating the tools and templates required for program replication 
  • Creating a launch and recruitment plan for program implmentation

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and research skills 
  • Demonstrated ethical handling of confidential information
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite required
  • A detail-oriented self-starter who can be given a need or objective, break it down into executable pieces, identify questions that need to be asked, gather priorities and requirements, set and manage to milestones and then execute effectively
