Jason Kloth
President and CEO

Prior to founding Ascend, Jason Kloth served as Deputy Mayor of Education for the City of Indianapolis leading Mayor Greg Ballard's Office of Education Innovation. Kloth previously served as Senior Vice President of Public Affairs at Teach for America and was the founding Executive Director of the Indianapolis Teach for America chapter. He began his career as a sixth grade teacher in Texas and was selected Teacher of the Year. Kloth serves on a variety of boards, including the United Negro College Fund, Early Learning Indiana, and United Way. Kloth has participated in the Aspen Fellowship program, serves as a member of the American Enterprise Institute's National Leadership Network, and was honored by the Walton Family Foundation as an Education Reformer to Watch. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Latoya Botteron
Chief Financial Officer

Latoya Botteron oversees financial operations and human resources at Ascend and the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP). She joined CICP in 2010 as controller and was promoted to vice president of finance and human resources director in 2012. Prior to joining CICP, Botteron served as audit in-charge for Katz, Sapper & Miller in Indianapolis and served on the audit team for UHY Advisors in Albany, New York. She is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Business from State University of New York College at Plattsburg.

Stephanie Bothun
Vice President of Strategy

Stephanie Bothun leads Ascend's organizational planning, strategy, and talent pipeline development efforts. Bothun previously served as Human Capital Analyst with Deloitte Consulting. She also served as Director of Education Initiatives for the City of Indianapolis, where she directed strategic planning and led the implementation of the Indianapolis Preschool Scholarship Program. While at Teach for America, Bothun taught eighth grade math and was named Indianapolis’s Teacher of the Year. Bothun received her Bachelor of Science in Finance from Indiana University and a Master of Arts in Education from Marian University.

Kate Broshears
Vice President of External Relations

Kate Broshears manages development and leads marketing and communication efforts for Ascend. Previously, Broshears was the Assistant Director of Division III Governance Communications at the NCAA, where she managed all Division III web operations, social media platforms, and the divisional brand identity. Broshears began her career as an Orr Fellow at Compendium and served as the Fellowship’s Internal Chief of Staff. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from DePauw University and both a Masters of Business Administration and Masters of Sport Administration from Ohio University.

Sally Reasoner
Vice President of Talent Identification

Sally Reasoner leads Ascend's talent attraction and recruitment efforts. Reasoner started her career as a member of the Orr Fellowship where she worked at FinishMaster and served as the Fellowship’s Chief of Staff. Reasoner then joined the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership to build TechPoint’s workforce development strategy. At TechPoint, Reasoner served as the Director of Talent Initiatives and led the successful launch of four college-to-career programs which recruited over 350 students and new-grads to nearly 60 companies. Reasoner holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from DePauw University.

Chad Timmerman
Vice President of Public Policy

Chad Timmerman leads Ascend's employer and community partnership engagement process. Timmerman recently served as Senior Policy Director for the Governor of Indiana. He began his career in the state legislature and gained valuable experience in K-12, higher education, and workforce policy and finance as Assistant Director in the Office of Management and Budget. Timmerman is a board member for the Indiana School for the Deaf and Commissioner for the Education Commission of the States. He holds a Juris Doctorate, Master of Public Affairs, and a Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University.

Raquel Bahamonde
Director of Communications

Raquel Bahamonde serves in a consulting role as director of communications for the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), leading membership and internal communications and supporting the organization’s initiatives. Bahamonde currently serves as President of Bahamonde Communications LLC, a strategic communications firm. Bahamonde previously served as Executive Director of Corporate Affairs for AIT Laboratories and Executive Producer and Director of e-Content for Inside INdiana Business. She has been honored with two Emmy awards and eleven nominations in her career. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Radio-TV with a minor in Art from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale.

Cinthya Sanghera
Director of Administration

Cinthya Sanghera serves as director of administration for the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP). Previously, Sanghera served as Grants and Office Manager for Charter Schools USA-TC Howe High School. She has served as a Bilingual Assistant for the Indianapolis Public Schools and Carl Wilde Elementary and as Lead Client Associate for JPMorgan Chase. She is fluent in English and Spanish. Sanghera earned a Bachelor of Science in business from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University where she majored in Management and Human Resources Management.

Tyler Ewigleben
Manager

Tyler Ewigleben supports Ascend's recruitment strategy development and operations of the talent identification division. Previously, Ewigleben served as a Program Associate with Nextech and as an AmeriCorps VISTA Fellow at the City of Indianapolis - Mayor’s Office of Education Innovation. While in these roles, he supported the development and execution of the Nextech strategic plan, fundraising strategy, and various education and workforce development programs, including Nextech Catapult and the Indianapolis VEX Robotics Championship. Ewigleben received his Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs and is pursuing a Juris Doctorate from Indiana University.

Ursula LaFosse
Consultant

Ursula LaFosse supports the development and delivery of talent pipeline solutions. Previously, LaFosse was a consultant with Hitachi Consulting, working primarily as a project manager in the social innovation space. She also served as a Teach for America corps member and taught fourth grade in Las Vegas. LaFosse received a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Southwestern University, Master of Education in Elementary Curriculum and Instruction from University of Nevada-Las Vegas, and a Master of Public Affairs with an emphasis in policy analysis from Indiana University.

Alex Mislan
Manager

Alex Mislan supports Ascend’s external relations strategy development and operations. Previously, Mislan was the Events and Scholar Programming Coordinator at Starfish Initiative, where she managed end to end execution of student-centered programming and acted as liaison to university allies. She also served as the Associate Head Women’s Basketball coach at IUPUI, where she collaborated on the development of strategy, oversaw recruiting and daily operations, and balanced the program’s budget. Mislan holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

Mallory Puckett
Manager

Mallory Puckett leads Ascend’s talent identification efforts at Purdue University. She made her way to the Ascend team by way of the Orr Fellowship where she was selected for the class of 2017. Previously, Puckett interned at Trane in sales engineering and at NextEra Energy on the NEXTeam, a temporary team dedicated to updating the company’s asset management software. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University with minors in Management and Statistics. At Purdue, Puckett participated in undergraduate research with Purdue INSPIRE Institute for K-12 Engineering Research and Learning.

Simon Willard
Consulting Analyst

Simon Willard serves as a consulting analyst, supporting Ascend’s organizational planning, strategy, and talent pipeline development.  Willard previously served as an undergraduate teaching assistant in Economics at Indiana University in Bloomington.  Willard’s research through the Indiana University Department of Economics focuses primarily on labor economics.  Willard holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Indiana University.

Maria Paez
Talent Identification Coordinator

Maria Paez leads Ascend’s recruitment efforts and joined Ascend as an AmeriCorps VISTA fellow. Prior to Ascend, Paez worked as the Development Assistant for IUPUI’s School of Engineering and Technology where she supported the execution of special events, scholarship efforts, and marketing and communications. Previously, she interned at Alcoa in university relations and developed a social media recruiting model for talent acquisition and assisted in centralizing Alcoa’s onboarding process. Paez received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a certificate in Nonprofit Management from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.

Marielle Saunders
Business Development Coordinator

Marielle Saunders leads Ascend’s business development and marketing efforts as an AmeriCorps VISTA fellow. Previously Saunders worked in various administrative and programmatic roles throughout Michigan, including Program Assistant for the University of Michigan’s English for Academic Purposes and English for Legal Studies Programs. She also interned at the Texas A&M’s Transportation Institute as a Research Associate. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Michigan, with concentrations in Urban Studies and Sustainability.

Caitlin Sheesley-Brown
Executive Assistant / Strategy & Operations Associate

Caitlin Sheesley-Brown leads all office coordination efforts and provides support to the CEO. Sheesley-Brown previously served as a graduate researcher for the STEM Education Research Institute at IUPUI where she observed K-8 science teachers for the Indiana Science Initiative. Previously, Sheesley-Brown served as US2020 Database and Evaluation Manager for the TechPoint Foundation for Youth as an AmeriCorps VISTA member. Sheesley-Brown holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Anthropology from Kent State University.

Elizabeth Anderson
Accounting Assistant

Elizabeth Anderson serves as the accounting assistant for the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP). Previously, she served as a bookkeeper at PAS Bookkeeping & Tax as well as an administrative assistant at Home Funding of Tennessee. Anderson earned a B.A. in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga. She is currently working on her Visual Communication and Design degree at Herron School of Art and Design.
