INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 13, 2017) ? Ascend Indiana President and CEO Jason Kloth has been named to the Indianapolis Business Journal’s (IBJ) prestigious Forty Under 40 list. (IBJ article)
Jason joined CICP in 2015 and spent the next 16 months creating Ascend Indiana, CICP’s sixth initiative, with a focus on workforce development. During that time, Jason worked tirelessly to understand the challenges facing Central Indiana’s labor market and their underlying causes. He solicited input from community partners and key stakeholders, built a board of directors and core leadership team, and secured $7 million in funding to make the vision a reality. In October 2016, Ascend Indiana unveiled its new brand at a press conference that was attended by more than 250 community and business leaders. The announcement also garnered more than 40 media placements.
Jason’s short professional career is one of impressive accomplishments. After serving as a 6th grade teacher in the Rio Grande Valley and being honored as teacher of the year (selected by his peers), Jason took his talents to Teach For America where he served as senior vice president of Public Affairs and established the Indianapolis office. He was tapped by Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard as deputy mayor of education, where he was instrumental in adding to the number of the city’s charter schools and stewarding passage of the Indianapolis Preschool Scholarship Program ($50 million in public-private partnership).
Jason has served on a number of boards including the United Negro College Fund, Teach For America – Indianapolis, United Way-Public Policy Committee and Early Learning Indiana.
Jason joins others in the CICP family who have received the Forty Under 40 award.
