Director of Program Management

Ascend Indiana is a fast-growing nonprofit on a mission to ensure Indiana is a place of economic opportunity for all. An initiative of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), Ascend collaborates with corporate, education, philanthropic, and community partners, and is well-positioned to play a leadership role in addressing Indiana’s workforce challenges.

The Director of Program Management will be a key leader on the Ascend Network team. The primary responsibilities of the Director will include developing and implementing strategy for the Network while managing a team to ensure progress toward organizational goals and objectives. The Director will operationalize activity between students and employers to more effectively connect students to internships and jobs to improve career outcomes. A core component of this role will be cultivating new employer partnerships to enhance and expand opportunities available to students in the Ascend Network. Finally, the Director of Ascend Network will support the Vice President on high priority projects and research as assigned.

  • You serve as a member of the Network leadership team.
  • You think broadly about the impact of the Network and optimize processes and structures to enhance outcomes.
  • You work alongside the Vice President to determine the short-term and long-term strategy and objectives of the Network team.
  • You analyze Network data and outcomes, applying disciplined thought to underlying causes, proposing solutions to address those causes, and identifying solutions alongside the Vice President.
  • You foster a sense of possibility amongst the Network team and encourage big ideas.

A self-starting, ambitious doer that can develop a strategy to cultivate new employer partnerships across the state.

  • You lead business development activities alongside the Manager of Employer Engagement by identifying potential partners, developing an outreach and engagement strategy, and conducting initial discussions to understand employers’ early-in-career opportunities.
  • You participate in the employer prospecting and sales process by understanding current hiring trends and talent demands, as well as developing their presence within the Network as needed.
  • You support partnership development activities alongside the Vice President and Manager of Employer Engagement.

  • You break down goals and develop weekly, quarterly, and yearly plans to achieve organizational objectives.
  • You manage and report against goals, priorities, and objectives to the Vice President.

Requirements

  • 3.0 minimum GPA from either an undergraduate or graduate institution
  • 2-6 years of experience in a corporate environment managing client relationships, sales, or talent-related initiatives
  • 2-5 years of management experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ethical handling of confidential information
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite required
