Email Marketing and Communications Associate

The Email Marketing and Communications Associate is a core force behind driving candidate engagement with Ascend. You develop and execute a personalized email outreach strategy that will reach thousands of students across Indiana and the Midwest with the end goal of inspiring them to sign up for the Ascend Network. The primary responsibilities of the Email Marketing and Communications Associate is to support their team in the implementation of effective recruitment and talent identification strategies, enabling outreach to a high volume of students and inspiring them to connect 1:1 with a member of the Ascend team. In this role, the Associate will be the owner of all candidate outreach and scheduling, data import processes, and content creation. This individual is a critical component to the success of the Network team in effectively serving students. Finally, this individual will support the Manager of Campus Partnerships and other Network staff on high priority projects as assigned.

To be successful in this role you must be...

Extremely organized and energized by managing communications with thousands of candidates.

  • You develop and execute a personalized email outreach strategy that will reach thousands of students across Indiana and the Midwest.
  • You use Click Dimensions or other like tech-enabled tools to manage outreach and follow-up to drive ambitious outcomes, empower the team to reach capacity, and achieve goals.
  • You work closely with the Ascend Network Team to ensure alignment in efforts and outreach to candidates to ensure alignment with open roles.
  • You leverage Ascend’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform to evaluate a candidate’s qualifications, connecting them to the appropriate career readiness resources as appropriate.
  • You use targeted communication and Calend.ly to schedule qualified candidates for a 1:1 meeting with an Ascend Manager of Recruitment and Ascend’s expansion partners.
  • You track everything in the CRM, allowing you to evaluate outcomes and constantly increase your own effectiveness by implementing, testing, and tracking results of new content.
  • You produce regular outcomes and engagement reports and evaluate data trends over time using both CRM and the Ascend Network.
  • You will support this work for Ascend and, as necessary, Ascend’s expansion partners to ensure all candidates using the Network have a seamless user experience.
  • You prepare briefs and memos to share internally and externally as requested.

Excited to lead the development of written content in support of refining a larger communications strategy.

  • You help to develop and refine a clear communication and marketing strategy that will lead to a high volume of students signing up to join the Ascend Network.
  • You support the development and execution of a monthly higher education newsletter.
  • You advance the scope and quality of student outreach content for higher education partners to send on Ascend’s behalf.
  • You support the expansion of social media promotion through Ascend staff and higher education partnerships and assist in the replication of marketing and social media kits in alignment with the Marketing Team.
  • You produce regular outcomes and engagement reports and evaluate data trends over time using both CRM and the Ascend Network to develop best practices.

Driven to find answers in data that will inform and improve your work.

  • You own the collection and analysis of all student data to identify bottlenecks, including the import of student data shared by higher education, and leverage this data to ground your solutions in evidence.
  • You compile key data takeaways to share with external partners in branded reports.
  • You manage the data import process ensuring that data is organized, cleaned, and aligned with our CRM to enable a smooth transfer from spreadsheets to CRM.
  • You support the development of the Click Dimensions and CRM, including how data is captured, integrated, and tracked.
  • You support the analysis of your team’s dashboard on a weekly basis to identify trends and areas of focus for the team.

  • You break down goals and develop weekly, quarterly, and yearly plans to achieve organizational objectives.
  • You manage and report against goals, priorities, and objectives to the Manager and/or Vice President.

Requirements

  • 3.0+ cumulative GPA from either an undergraduate or graduate institution.
  • 1 - 2 years of applicable education, business, non-profit, and/or government experience.
  • Experience with email marketing and marketing automation required. Use of marketing automation software, like ClickDimensions, preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of success in leading projects and achieving ambitious outcomes.
  • A detail-oriented self-starter who can be given a need or objective, break it down into executable activities, identify questions that need to be asked, gather priorities and requirements, set and manage to milestones, and then execute effectively.
  • Demonstrated ethical handling of confidential information.
  • Track record of successfully working collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience with HTML preferred.
  • Ability to learn new technology tools and processes quickly. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite preferred.

  • Travel: Statewide, 10% of the job will be remote on college/university campuses
