Director of Employer Engagement

Ascend Indiana is a fast-growing nonprofit on a mission to ensure Indiana is a place of economic opportunity for all. An initiative of Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), Ascend collaborates with corporate, education, philanthropic, and community partners, and is well-positioned to play a leadership role in addressing Indiana’s workforce challenges.

The Director of Employer Engagement will be a key leader on the Ascend Network team. The primary responsibilities of the Director of Employer Engagement will include developing and implementing strategies for the ongoing engagement of employer partners statewide with the Ascend Network while managing a team to ensure progress toward organizational goals and objectives. The Director of Employer Engagement will operationalize activity between employer and community partners, the team, and the Network platform to connect individuals more effectively to meaningful internships and jobs. Finally, the Director of Employer Partnerships will support the Vice President on high priority projects and research as assigned.

  • You will play a key role in determining Ascend’s value proposition to potential and current employer and community partners across the state of Indiana.
  • You will use the defined value proposition to develop an outcome-driven strategy for how the team will cultivate relationships with and effectively serve and grow Ascend’s 500+ employer partners.
  • You will anchor your teams work in data, including where data is stored and how it is captured, and leverage it to create sustainable employer strategies.
  • You will develop and implement internal processes to successfully scale and manage Ascend’s employer partnerships.
  • You will generate high-quality PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and other written deliverables to support the development of employer strategies and processes.
  • You support recruitment, hiring, and onboarding efforts to build out a team of high-performing individuals motivated by ambitious goals.
  • You develop clear expectations for every member of your team and communicate and measure against those expectations consistently.
  • You leverage data to inform decision-making and drive your team’s actions to ensure continued progress against goals.
  • You meet weekly with individual team members to support their professional growth and ensure performance against quarterly and yearly goals to achieve organizational objectives.
  • You develop and manage a CRM infrastructure that will hold employer data + activities to guide action and inform long-term learnings.
  • You motivate and encourage team members to focus on high-impact activities and to maintain positive, sustained effort.

An excellent communicator who can effectively drive brand awareness across the state.

  • You support Ascend’s business development efforts, managing qualified employers to become signed partners.
  • You leverage your natural networking skills to be the face and voice for external, employer-facing communication and brand expansion.
  • You identify high-potential external event opportunities and represent Ascend to broaden reach and drive employer interest.
  • You plan and execute curated employer recruitment events alongside local, regional, and statewide strategic partners to drive new employer partnerships.
  • You serve as a member of the Network leadership team.

Requirements

  • 3.0 minimum GPA from either an undergraduate or graduate institution
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in a corporate environment managing a team or employer/account management activities preferred
  • 2 - 4 years of management experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ethical handling of confidential information
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite required
