INCAP is a new learning and training option that prepares Hoosiers for in-demand careers.
A new website has been launched for the Indiana Career Apprenticeship Pathway (INCAP), IndianaCAP.org. INCAP is a new pathway for high school and adult students to learn about and train for in-demand careers and help Indiana businesses find and train employees. With the launch of a new website, IndianaCAP.org, more Hoosiers will have the opportunity to learn about the initiative.
INCAP is an innovative, employer-led solution to address Indiana’s increasing workforce shortages and skills gaps. Employers define what skills students – whether high schoolers or adults – need for in-demand jobs. Students who complete an apprenticeship can enter the workforce, or they can continue their education within INCAP or in college, all without losing credit for the education and training they’ve already completed.
CEMETS iLab Indiana – a coalition of more than 300 Hoosier leaders from various industries, K-12 schools, higher education, nonprofits, government, and philanthropic organizations – is leading the effort.
The first cohort of high school students is expected to begin INCAP apprenticeship programs in the fall of 2026. They will split their time between the workplace and the classroom, with at least 50% of their training taking place on the job to help ensure they are gaining in-demand skills and employers are realizing a return on investment. The students will be paid by their employers and work year-round. Programs for adults will be available in later years.
