Ascend Indiana, the talent and workforce development initiative of the CEOs of Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), announced today two new members to its Board of Directors.
The board members include Karly Cope, vice president of Talent Management at Community Health Network, and Marie Mackintosh, vice chancellor for Workforce and Community Engagement at IU Indianapolis.
Karly is replacing long-time Ascend Board member and board vice chair Joyce Irwin (Community Health Network Foundation) who announced her retirement earlier this year, and Marie is filling the IU Indianapolis board seat that had been previously held by Jay Gladden.
“Ascend’s board of directors provides invaluable insight and guidance, and I am pleased to have Karly and Marie as our newest members,” said Brad Rhorer, president and CEO of Ascend Indiana. “Karly brings significant value to the board through her strategic leadership in healthcare workforce development expertise, and Marie will bolster our efforts through her work with IU Indianapolis to strengthen connections between employers, community partners and education to improve career outcomes for students.
Karly Cope is the vice president of Talent Management for Community Health Network. With 15+ years of experience in human resources, leadership development and organizational transformation, Karly leads strategies to attract, retain and develop top talent to drive excellence in patient care and long-term success. In her current role, she oversees talent acquisition, provider recruitment, leadership and staff development, training, employee engagement and performance management. Partnering closely with executive leadership, Karly helps to foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration and servant leadership.
Prior to her role at Community Health Network, Karly served as manager of Talent Management at AES, contributing to affordable and sustainable energy initiatives. Earlier in her career, at Roche Diagnostics, Karly was a senior Talent and Organizational Development Consultant, managing high-potential employee development, program management and executive coaching. She also focused on succession and talent management, applying knowledge of DISC, Learning Agility, StrengthsFinder and CCL 360.
Karly holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Taylor University.
Marie Mackintosh is the vice chancellor for Workforce and Community Engagement at IU Indianapolis, where she leads efforts to connect employers and community partners with the university’s academic programs, research expertise and talent pipeline. Her office serves as a coordinated front door for industry and community engagement, aligning employer partnerships, experiential learning and community initiatives to strengthen career outcomes for students and support regional and community economic growth.
Previously, Marie served as president and CEO of EmployIndy, the workforce development board for Indianapolis. During her tenure, Indianapolis gained national recognition for employer-driven talent strategies and work-integrated learning through initiatives such as Talent Bound, Modern Apprenticeship and the New Skills Ready Network collaborative.
Marie brings more than two decades of leadership experience working across business, government, higher education and nonprofit sectors to strengthen talent pipelines and expand economic opportunity. She currently serves on the boards of the Indianapolis Urban League, the John H. Boner Community Center and the Indy Chamber’s Education and Workforce Council.
